THE ENDLESS SUMMER FILM

The legendary Surf Filmaker, Bruce Brown’s sixth film The Endless Summer filmed in 1964 and released in 1966 is an archetypal tale of two Californian surfers, Mike Hyson and Robert August hitting the road to follow an everlasting Summer surf adventure around the world, in search of the perfect wave.

BRIEF HISTORY

Californian surfer Dick Metz connected Bruce Brown with John Whitmore (The Oom), the South African surfing Pioneer. Dick met with John on a Cape Town beach back in 1959 during his own world tour and was inspired by John’s extensive knowledge of the local surf spots, they formed a lifelong friendship.
Dick then convinced his close friend Bruce Brown, to visit South Africa to film what would become the iconic documentary The Endless Summer. John Whitmore provided local knowledge and logistics, which was crucial to the film’s success in discovering the “perfect wave” at St Francis Bay, aptly named Bruce’s Beauties.

Craig Briggs owner of Black Hog Brewery Pty Ltd has entered a South African Licence Agreement with LA based Bruce Brown Films for the use of the brand name THE ENDLESS SUMMER.
